Chickies Rock, PA

Thanksgiving weekend, and a warm Sunday for a hike to Chickies Rock, overlooking the Susquehanna. There are actually two magnificent overlooks at the park, one at Breezyview, where I parked, and the other at Chickies Rock, three-quarters of a mile upstream. To get from one to the other you hike down, down, down to the river, and then up, up, up at the other end. But the views make it all worth while.

Union Canal Towpath, PA

A grey and chilly Sunday, but a lovely walk nonetheless. The Union Canal Towpath runs alongside Tulpehocken Creek from (roughly) Blue Marsh Lake to Reading. The water was high and fast today due to the torrential rain two days ago. I'm looking forward to paddling this section next spring, but I'll wait for the water to subside first!

Napatree Point, Watch Hill, RI

On this glorious November morning, had an enchanted walk along the Napatree Point peninsula on both the bay side and the ocean side. Took shot after shot of the dune grass--it's just irrestistible.
